Now, the exterior vents and interior channels have been carefully considered to make sure that the helmet draws in the maximum amount of air through the helmet for extreme cooling. And the result? The new Evade is just as cool as a bare head with no helmet, making it the coolest aero helmet on the market today. Through this work, the Evade saves 50 seconds over 40km versus a traditional road helmet and roughly six seconds over the prior iteration of Evade. When you ride in frigid conditions, your options for lightweight insulation under your outerwear are limited. It's typically been a fleece jersey with rear pockets that only adds to bulk and weight. Insulation with a high warmth-to-weight ratio, like down feathers or polyester fiber-fill are ideal, but those materials need to be encapsulated with a coated fabric to contain them, cutting breathability down significantly. Our solution is Polartec Alpha insulation that provides insulation without the need to encapsulate, giving you unimpeded breathability for a warm, dry ride. The outer shell is lightweight and uncoated, furthering the flow of perspiration and allowing the piece to packable when you need to de-layer when things get too hot. The jacket is designed to be worn under an outer jacket, such as our Deflect H2O pieces, so the fit is close to the body to eliminate any bulk. Making a jacket that does one thing well is pretty easy. Making a jacket that does one thing perfectly is pretty hard. And making a jacket does everything exceptionally is next to impossible. Well, you could say that they specialize in the impossible, because the new Deflect Reflect Hybrid Jacket flawlessly performs a bevy of duties, from protection to visibility. Starting with protection, it's made from Specialized's wind- and water-resistant Deflect material. This fabric is extremely lightweight and breathable, so you won't ever experience that rainforest feeling in high humidity conditions. But if things do start to heat up while you're throwing down the watts, they've included two front vents, a large back vent, and laser perforated exhaust points throughout the jacket. To keep water out, the jacket also features adjustable wrist seals, a zipper garage at the collar, a drop tail to deflect road-spray, and an adjustable drawcord hem.
